The Judicial Service of Ghana has benefitted from a disinfection exercise carried out by Vectorpes, an accredited Disinfection and Fumigation Unit of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, which is a subsidiary of Jospong Group of Companies.
The Judicial Service of Ghana has received sanitary items from GCB Bank, to help prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country’s courts.
The British High Commissioner, Mr. Iain Walker, has called on the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah to discuss issues of mutual concern. The visit afforded Mr. Walker the opportunity to personally congratulate the Chief Justice on his appointment.
Justices of the Superior Courts of Ghana have undergone a 2-day training in Accra on the new Companies Act 2019, (Act 992). The new Act replaced the repealed Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179).
A District Court has been inaugurated in Sowutuom, the capital of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, in the Greater Accra Region. The Courthouse comprises a Court Room, Chambers and Offices for the Recorder, Registrar, Cashier and Bailiff, and washrooms for staff and court users. It also has a cell for the Court and decent residential accommodation for the Magistrate who will be in charge of the Court.
Ghana’s third arm of government, the Judiciary, on the 7th of January, 2020 witnessed the colourful and momentous investiture of His Lordship, Justice Anin Yeboah as the 14th Chief Justice of the country.
The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Sophia A. B Akuffo, has commended teachers across the country for their hard work in nurturing the nation’s students.
“I salute all teachers. They are doing a divine duty nurturing other people’s children. It is not everyone who has the heart to do that. May God bless every teacher in this country”.
Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia A.B Akuffo has charged newly sworn-in Circuit Court Judges to be mindful of their conducts as they influence public perception of the Judiciary.
“Your actions, in and out of the Courtroom, should help shape how the public perceive the institution of justice and determine whether they can trust us to preserve the peace by keeping alive the flames of freedom and justice”, she said.
At a short ceremony in Accra, Justice Akuffo urged the Judges to as well be mindful of the Codes of Ethics of Judges and Magistrates of Ghana, to manage their cases well.
“Our mission is to serve and to continuously find better ways to do so. It is therefore important to manage your cases effectively and efficiently. Undue delays can, and will, lead to backlogs that will hinder effective administration of justice”, she added.
