Ejura gets new District Court

The Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Area in the Ashanti Region witnessed the historic inauguration of a newly constructed District Court on January 6, 2025. The ultra-modern facility, hailed as a beacon of hope and justice, promises to transform the delivery of legal services in the region.

The Honourable Lady Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkonoo, has urged young people to renew their commitment to serving the nation with integrity and selflessness. She emphasized that it was essential for the youth to uphold these values to ensure the country’s peace and stability are maintained.

 

 

The Honourable Lady Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has emphasized the need for more investment in the country’s justice system to sustain its peace and stability.

 

Her Ladyship Justice Mariama Owusu, a Justice of the Supreme Court, has delivered her valedictory judgment, bringing the curtain down on a 34-year old judicial career. She delivered the judgment as President of the Supreme Court panel, in the case of Nii Odai Ayiku v Attorney-General.

 

 

 

The Honourable Lady Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkonoo, has launched the ‘5th edition of the Manual on Election Adjudication in Ghana’ at a colourful a  ceremony at the Law Court Complex, in Accra.

 

The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, the Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo has implored the Ghanaian Judiciary as custodians of the law to ensure that justice does not become a commodity for only those who can afford it.

 

His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has implored Twenty-One (21) newly sworn-in Justices of the High Court quick-witted and not to indulge in the practice of delivering judgments without citing any legal authority.

The Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has launched 12 specialized courts to cater for the myriad of small claims and debt recovery cases instituted in the District Courts across the country by individuals and companies. The courts, eight of which are in the Greater Accra Region and four in the Ashanti Region, would operate on a pilot basis to help adjudicate claims from these financial institutions and individuals.
