A 13-member delegation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG), led by its President, Mr. George Ohene Kwatia, has paid a courtesy call on Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo at the Chief Justice’s Conference Room in Accra.

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has appealed to media practitioners to avoid unnecessary sensationalism in daily court reportage and ahead of the 2024 general elections.

His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sworn in three persons as Justices of the Supreme Court. They are; His Lordship Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, His Lordship Justice Yaw Darko Asare and His Lordship Justice Richard Adjei Frimpong.

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has inaugurated a new Circuit Court and District Court in Atebubu, with a plea to Judges, Magistrates and staff of the Judicial Service, to inspire confidence in the justice system through their work and conduct. This, Justice Torkornoo believes will encourage people to seek redress in the courts and not take matters in their own hands.

Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has inaugurated a new District Court at Kotobabi in the Ayawaso Central Municipality of Accra, with an admonition to residents not to pay any unauthorized fees to court staff for court services.

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has on behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service of Ghana, presented a cheque for one hundred and twenty-five thousand Ghana Cedis to a delegation from  the three North Tongu traditional areas of the Volta Region, in support of victims of the Akosombo Dam Spillage.

Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has entreated traditional leaders to support the creation of a database on land administration as a pillar of justice, to facilitate justice delivery, noting, that the current land administration regime  “presented a huge blockade to justice delivery” as the ownerships which were based on customary law, were seriously impeding the country’s economic growth.

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has cautioned Court Registrars against carrying
out functions outside their jurisdiction and advised them to stay within their remit in the performance of their duties.
