The visit was to formally invite the Speaker to deliver a lecture as part of the anniversary celebration and to brief him on the lineup of events planned for the occasion.

The milestone anniversary, launched in April this year, celebrates a court whose origins trace back to the colonial era, when it began as a simple forum for dispute resolution before evolving into an institution with far-reaching powers, including the interpretation of the Constitution.

The celebration, taking place from 2nd to 31st July 2026, features a series of activities designed to engage both the public and the legal community. These include lectures in Cape Coast, Kumasi and Accra, media engagements, a health walk, legal outreach and education programmes, a "What Do You Know" competition, and a moot court.

The highlight of the commemoration will be a lecture on 23rd July, during which Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin will speak on the theme "A Supreme Court in the Life of the 1992 Constitution: Taking Stock and Looking Forward."

Receiving the delegation, the Speaker described the 150-year celebration as coming at an opportune time for Ghana's democracy. He affirmed Parliament's readiness to fully attend and participate in all scheduled events, and called for stronger partnership and collaboration between the Legislature and the Judiciary to advance the nation's democratic gains. He further recommended that the celebration be extended to all regions of the country, so that ordinary citizens nationwide can also feel the impact of this historic milestone.
The Judicial Service has since expressed appreciation for the Speaker's commitment and looks forward to a successful month-long celebration, honouring 150 years of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
