Judicial Service Pledges Support for Black Stars during Blackstar Balloon Tour Visit

As part of the nationwide Blackstar Balloon Tour, a team from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ghana Tourism Authority and organisers of the tour, paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Judicial Service of Ghana at the Head Office in Accra, on Thursday 11th June 2026.

On behalf of the Chief Justice; His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, His Lordship Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang of the Supreme Court, together with a number of Directors and officers of the Judicial Service, warmly received the team, led by Messrs.’ Mike Cofie and Mohammed Hamdan in front of the iconic Martyrs of the Rule of Law monument, at the Supreme Court premises.

Addressing the team, Justice Pwamang spoke passionately about the unifying power of football and Ghana's participation in the FIFA World Cup, noting that the sport brings the nation together and eases stress and tension. He assured the team that although the Judicial Service could not be physically present at matches, the institution stood firmly behind the Black Stars in spirit.

As a highlight of the visit, Justice Pwamang appended his signature on the giant Black Star balloon, joining the growing list of dignitaries endorsing the campaign.

He commended the organisers for the campaign, stating that the more the nation rallies behind the team, the farther the Black Stars will go, and urged Ghanaians not to doubt the team's chances. He closed with a rousing message of encouragement to the players: "Go, boys, go. Go for the gold."


According to the organisers, the Black Star Balloon Tour is a nationwide movement whose objective is to unite Ghanaians behind the Black Stars through a structured multi-regional activation across all 16 regions, with extensions the diaspora.


Speaking on behalf of the tour team, Mr. Hamdan, expressed gratitude to the Judicial Service for the warm reception and reaffirmed the team's commitment to rallying the nation behind the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

The organisers say, the nationwide Blackstar Balloon Tour is a platform; integrating sports, community activation, youth participation, and digital interaction to drive national pride and unity.
