Supreme Court @150 Committee Engages Despite Media for Anniversary Celebrations

The Supreme Court at 150 Anniversary Planning Committee delegation, led by its Chairman, His Lordship Justice Richard Adjei Frimpong; a Justice of the Supreme Court, received a warm welcome during a visit to the Despite Media Group Management at the ‘Ship House’ in Accra, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The visit forms part of an ongoing series of media engagements in the build-up to the July anniversary celebrations.

The meeting atmosphere was warm and collegial from the outset; a meeting that touched on law, language, legacy, and the power of storytelling in the service of justice.

Justice Adjei-Frimpong spoke with conviction about the Supreme Court’s place at the very heart of Ghana’s democratic story, citing watershed rulings that had quietly but profoundly shaped the rights and freedoms Ghanaians enjoy today from the rights of persons held in detention to the creative freedoms of content producers.

He walked the Despite Media team through the programme lineup stretching across the month of July, that takes the anniversary beyond boardrooms and courtrooms into communities, schools, and town squares. From lectures in Cape Coast, Kumasi and Accra, to moot court competitions and a grand durbar, the message was clear: this milestone belongs to every Ghanaian.
