Marking a Milestone Year

The special edition forms part of a wider push by the Judicial Service of Ghana to bring the story of the Supreme Court to the Ghanaian public during the month-long Supreme Court @150 celebrations, running under the theme “Honouring the Past, Celebrating the Present and Defining the Future.” The anniversary marks 150 years since the Court's establishment under the Supreme Court Ordinance of 1876, and its journey from a colonial-era tribunal to its present role as guardian of the 1992 Constitution.

The theme provided a unique platform to not only entertain but also educate the public on the critical role the apex court has played in shaping Ghana's democracy since the 19th century.

Contestants were grilled on various aspects of the judiciary, including:

• The historical transition from the Gold Coast judicial systems to the modern-day Supreme Court.
• Profiles of notable past Chief Justices and legal pioneers.
• Landmark constitutional rulings that have defined Ghana's Fourth Republic.
