The items include 15, 000 face masks, 30, 000 gloves, 300 bottles of hand sanitizers and 20 contactless thermometers.
UNICEF’s Representative, Madam Anne-Claire Dufay who presented the items to the Chief Justice indicated that available evidence from other countries show an increase in sexual and gender-based violence due to movement restrictions and closure of schools. Thus, she was hopeful that the items would ensure the safety of Judges and Court officials working in these special Courts to continue delivering on their mandate.
For his part, the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah, expressed his profound gratitude to UNICEF for its continuous support over the years and especially in these times. He said the support will complement measures instituted by the Judicial Service to prevent the spread of corona virus in the country’s Courts.
