3 COURT OF APPEAL AND 16 HIGH COURT JUDGES SWORN-IN | Print |
His Excellency the President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, on Wednesday, 7th July 2010 swore in three new Justices of the Court of Appeal at a ceremony at the Castle, Osu. Two of the judges, His Lordship Justice Senyo Dzamefe and Her Ladyship Mrs. Justice Agnes Mercy Abla Dordzie were promoted from the High Court while the third one, His Lordship Mr. Justice Dennis Dominic Adjei, came from the Bar.

Outgoing UNICEF – Ghana Boss calls on CJ | Print |
The outgoing United Nations Children’s Fund Representative (UNICEF) in Ghana, Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque, has paid a courtesy call on Her Ladyship Chief Justice, Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood, to bid her farewell after her three-year duty in Ghana and to share with her some of the achievements the organization chalked during her tenure and discuss with her ways of safeguarding and protecting the rights of children in Ghana.

24TH JUNE, 2010

The 3rd Annual Lady Chief Justice’s Mentoring Programme has come off at the Chief Justice’s Court in the Supreme Court Building in Accra. The programme which was introduced on the judicial calendar by Lady Chief Justice Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood is designed to expose students of second cycle institutions to the work of the Judiciary in the hope that they may consider a future career at the Bar and on the Bench.

The 8th annual Chief Justice’s Forum has been held at Elmina in the Central region. The Forum is an opportunity for the citizenry to bear their hearts out on issues bordering on the justice delivery system and also for the Chief Justice and the Judiciary to discuss with them in a candid manner the state of the judiciary and the collective roles all have to play to ensure a timely dispensation of justice without fear or favour. It had the theme, Access to Justice: A Collective Responsibility towards a Transparent and Accountable Judiciary.

ADR FOR ALL COURTS IN GHANA BY 2013 | Print |
The Judicial Service intends to extend of the implementation of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programme to all courts in Ghana by 2013.

In pursuit of this vision a new policy directive outlined in June this year, established a separate National ADR Directorate to coordinate all ADR activities within the Judicial Service.
