CHIEF JUSTICE TO LEAD DELEGATION TO 10TH MARITIME SEMINAR FOR JUDGES IN NIGERIA

36 NEW LAWYERS CALLED TO THE BAR

The names of 36 newly qualified lawyers from the Ghana School of Law were added to the Roll of Lawyers on 31st January 2008 at a special meeting in Accra of the General Legal Council chaired by Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina T. NEW HIGH COURT JUDGES & MAGISTRATES SWORN IN

Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, has sworn in twenty five (25) High Court Judges and two (2) District Magistrates at separate ceremonies in Accra.
High Court Judges: The newly appointed High Court Judges, comprising 15 judges elevated from the Circuit Court and 10 lawyers from the Bar,swore three (3) Oaths:the Oath of Allegiance, the

WEEKEND COURTS TO START SITTING IN ACCRA.

28th March, 2008
1. The Judicial Service of Ghana announces for the information of the general public that weekend Circuit and District courts will start sitting in Accra from Saturday 5th April 2008 to deal with specific cases including, Domestic Violence and Revenue Claims by state agencies.
2. The Courts will operate from the premises of the District and Juvenile Courts near the Ministries – Accra.
3. The Courts will sit from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm every Saturday.
4. The Saturday Courts will be extended to other areas in the country in due course.

NINE APPEAL COURT JUDGES SWORN IN

The Castle, Osu – NINE Justices of the Court of Appeal were sworn into office by the President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, on the 26th day of March 2008, with a call on them to dispense justice without fear or favour.
The Judges took three oaths: the Oath of Allegiance, the Judicial Oath and the Oath of Secrecy. read more

PRESIDENT KUFOUR NOMINATES FOUR JUDGES FOR SUPREME COURT

President John Agyekum Kufuor has nominated four judges to the Supreme Court.
The nominations were made by the President on the recommendations of the Council of State and the Judicial Council.
The Judges are Mr Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie, Mr Justice Anim Yeboah, Mr Justice Dotse and Ms Justice R.C. Owusu. read more

CLUSTER OF COURTS COMMISSIONED

Her Ladyship the Ghanaian Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina Wood, has commissioned a cluster of four courts in Accra. The four courts, all housed in one building in the ministries area near the beach, will deal exclusively and on a daily basis, with juvenile and family cases.
